Range Schedule
The Kid Creek Rifle Range is located at 1 km on the Kid Creek Forest Service Road (approx. 21 km east of Creston on Hwy 3). Use of this range is a free use benefit to members of the Creston Valley Rod and Gun Club. Non-members must purchase a day pass and be accompanied by a member. Members must wear their current membership card. The front gate is secured with a combination lock; the current combination to the lock is on the back of your membership card. The combination is changed every year on January 1. To operate the lock, set the combination, then push the lock bar into the lock body and pull the lock open. To close the lock, push the bar into the lock body, hold and spin the combination dial. The gate is closed and locked when the range is not in use. The sign on the gate indicates whether or not anyone is on the property. The person who opens the gate must set the sign to read “Range Active”. The last person to leave the property must close and lock the gate and change the gate sign to read “Range Inactive”. The Kid Creek Rifle Range is an unsupervised range. Except for Club sanctioned or other special events, an assigned Range Safety Officer will not be present. Range users will supervise themselves as per the rules posted. Each range venue is approved by the Chief Firearms Officer for a prescribed use. The prescribed use is described in detail in the rules posted at each range venue. Compliance with these rules is mandatory and essential to maintain our Range Approvals. There are four range venues: the BC-017-15R Handgun Range, the BC-16R Rifle Range, the BC-017R Rimfire Range and the BC-018R Trap Range. The rules for each venue are posted in the shooting shed. Approved firearms and maximum calibers are specified. Refer to the Templates Table of Equivalencies, Appendix E of the Shooting Range Design and Construction Guidelines (page 122) (http://bcfirearmsacademy.ca’wp-content/uploads/2019/RangeDesignConstruction Guidelines.pdf). Each range venue has activity flags which must be displayed. A green flag means the venue is inactive; a red flag means the venue is active. Our trap area has both a field trap members can use at any time with their own clays and a trap house which is used for trap evenings every two weeks during the season. There is a small charge for each round of 25. Check the range schedule for dates. *The range is intended for the use of members only. You must carry and be prepared to produce your Club membership card. To bring a guest you must purchase a $5.00 guest pass at one of outlets (see “join”) and sign them in at the range for liability purposes. Trespassers should be reported and will be prosecuted. **The range is occasionally closed for special events and use by other agencies who pay for this privilege. Pick up a range schedule when you buy your membership and check the events tab on this web-site. ***To report a problem or ask a question call our range chairman, Gerry Bond 250-428-6033. ****The range has been financed, built and maintained by volunteers. Please keep it clean. Come out on range clean-up day every April to do your part. SPECIAL EVENTS Some years in May we hold an Open House called Family Heritage Day to celebrate the role shooting and hunting has in our community.
